Comments, mentions, and inbox
Commenting
Section titled “Commenting”Comments support constrained markdown (headings, emphasis, code, lists, quotes, safe links) with a Write/Preview toggle. Files staged in the composer upload after the comment commits, so a failed upload never loses your words. The task-level Files gallery and chronological conversation are visible in one continuous detail view; a comment’s files also render directly beneath that comment.
Mentioning a teammate
Section titled “Mentioning a teammate”Type @ and start typing a name or email — active workspace members appear in a
suggestion list showing each person’s name and email, so two people with the same
name are never confused. Arrow keys move through the list, Enter or Tab
picks, and Escape closes the suggestions without touching anything else. The
composer inserts the person’s @email address, which is what ScopeKite actually
resolves — the mentioned teammate is notified exactly once and starts following the
item. Text after @ that matches nobody simply stays plain text.
Editing and deleting
Section titled “Editing and deleting”You can edit your own comments — the same Write/Preview composer opens in place, mention suggestions included. Edited comments carry an “edited” marker so nobody is misled about what was said when. If the comment changed elsewhere while you were editing (another tab, another device), your draft is kept, the latest version is shown for review, and saving again is an explicit choice — never a silent overwrite.
Deleting a comment (yours, or any comment if you are an owner/admin) leaves a tombstone: the conversation shows that a comment by that person was removed at that point, but the content itself is gone — including from Inbox notification previews and the comment’s attached files. Edits that @mention someone new notify just that person, once; fixing a typo never re-notifies anyone.
Comments on pages
Section titled “Comments on pages”Every page has its own Comments section under the document — the same thread as a task’s:
constrained markdown, @mention, edit your own, and deletes that leave a tombstone. A
Comments link in the page header jumps to it and shows how many there are. What is said
stays with the page: only people who can read the page can read or write in its thread, and
the comments do not appear on tasks linked to the page. Guests cannot see pages, so they
cannot see or be mentioned in page comments.
Follow a page to hear about new comments in your Inbox. Writing a comment, being
@mentioned in one, or creating the page makes you a follower; a page’s author therefore hears
the replies without doing anything. Saving a page never notifies anyone — following is for
conversation, not for edits. An Inbox row for a page comment shows who commented and on which
page, not the comment itself; it opens the page.
An archived page keeps its comments readable but takes no new ones — restore the page to reopen the conversation.
Following
Section titled “Following”Commenting or being mentioned auto-follows an item; the Follow button does it manually. Followers get inbox notifications for new comments and assignments.
Notifications group by day with an All/Unread filter. Opening one marks it read and jumps to the item (split pane, context preserved); Mark read clears it without navigating; Mark all read clears everything.
Keyboard triage: J/K move through notifications, E marks the focused one read.
The sidebar inbox badge updates in near-realtime (server-sent events with a polling fallback).
