Task detail

One work item, one URL (/w/workspace/i/SKY-42), two presentations:

• Opened from a surface (list, board, My Work, cycles, inbox, palette): a split pane beside the still-live surface. The URL carries a context parameter, so refreshing keeps the split view. Esc or ✕ returns to the surface with focus restored.
• Opened from a shared link: the full page.

What’s on it

• Fields as pills: state, assignee, priority, due, estimate, and — for members — a cycle picker that commits/releases through the same path as the planning room, plus a Follow toggle with the follower stack.
• Quick actions (top right): Copy link puts the canonical item URL on the clipboard from anywhere; Assign to me appears whenever the item isn’t yours and you can edit; Mark done appears until the item is completed. Viewers see only Copy link.
• Description in constrained markdown with edit/preview.
• Sub-tasks (one level): inline add, progress rollup, quick complete; a child shows a “Sub-task of…” breadcrumb back to its parent.
• Files, always visible above the conversation: image thumbnails with a lightbox, document cards, drag-drop and paste-to-attach, per-file retry. Every preview and download still goes through the guarded attachment route.
• Conversation, on the same scroll: comments (markdown, @mentions with typeahead, attachments) interleaved with story milestones — created, state changes, completion. The composer stays at the bottom while the detail scrolls; Write/Preview and ⌘/Ctrl-Enter still work. A file attached to a comment appears with that comment and in the Files gallery, so the discussion and its evidence never require tab switching. The collapsed All activity disclosure folds routine edits into chronological place — title, description, priority, assignee, dates, estimate, who and when — so “who changed the due date?” remains one click away without flooding the default story.
• More actions in the header overflow. Destructive actions are shown only to people with permission and task deletion always asks for confirmation; there is no standalone “More” tab.

Every field edit is optimistic with conflict detection — if someone changed the item under you, your edit is rolled back with a Refresh action, never silently overwritten.

Pane navigation

⌥J/⌥K (or the ‹ › buttons) walk the origin list’s order without piling up history; Back always exits to the surface in one step.
